2018-10-06. The Hassan II Mosque.

We hesitated to come to Casa, the economic center of the country, officially with 3.5 million inhabitants the largest city in the Maghreb, a cosmopolitan city that I know well for having come very often professionally for the last 30 years.But two things draw us to it.First: our friends. 
Very dear Moroccan friends we have known for 15 years now and at whom we will have a great evening around a fabulous meal. Once again, thank you, Mehdi, Zineb, Yasmina and Khalid ... and especially kiss your adorable daughters. And if you need advice for the purchase of the camper that you promised them, do not hesitate to ask us 😊.

And then there is the Hassan II Mosque that I saw build in the 1990s, but I have not yet had the opportunity to visit.
After a failed attempt 3 years ago, this is going to be done today.

After buying our tickets at 120 dirhams per person (11.36 €), this is the price for foreign non-residents, we are waiting for the departure of the guided tour. It was scheduled for noon, it will begin with a ten minutes late. There are four guides, one French, one English, one Spanish and one German. We will be eight to follow the visit in German.The Hassan II Mosque is the third largest mosque in the world after those of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia. Its 210 m high minaret is the tallest in the world and makes it the highest religious monument. 2,500 workers and 10,000 craftsmen worked there for six years and the mosque was inaugurated in 1993 for the 60th anniversary of Hassan II.

The prayer hall of 20,000 m² can accommodate up to 25,000 faithful, if we add the 50 to 60,000 that the esplanade can receive it is up to 80,000 faithful who come to pray regularly during Ramadan. In ordinary times the affluence is much less.

One of the peculiarities of this mosque is its sliding roof over a hundred meters to ensure aeration when the prayer room is full.

No doubt, this mosque is an architectural masterpiece. But strangely, I can not get excited by visiting her. Perhaps she is lacking maturity with only 25 years of age. Still, I do not find the atmosphere of these mosques full of history that we could visit in Turkey (I think of the blue mosque of Istanbul), in Iran (the mosques of the royal place in Isfahan for example) or in Syria, the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, which is certainly the one that impressed me the most.

Nous avons hésité à venir à Casa, le centre économique du pays, avec officiellement 3,5 millions d’habitants la plus grande ville du Maghreb, une ville cosmopolite que je connais bien pour y être venu très souvent professionnellement ces 30 dernières années.

Mais 2 choses nous y attirent.

D’abord les amis. Des amis marocains très chers que nous connaissons depuis 15 ans maintenant et chez qui nous allons passer une excellente soirée autour d’un fabuleux repas. Encore une fois merci à vous, Mehdi, Zineb, Yasmina et Khalid …. et surtout embrassez bien vos adorables filles. Et si vous avez besoin de conseils pour l’achat du camping-car que vous leur avez promis, n’hésitez pas à nous demander 😊

Et aussi merci à toi Philippe, pour le thé et pour les 8 années de coopération professionnelle.

Et puis il y a Mosquée Hassan II que j’ai vu construire dans les années 1990, mais que je n’ai pas eu encore l’occasion de visiter.

Après une tentative manquée il y 3 ans voilà qui va être fait aujourd’hui.

Après avoir acheté nos tickets à 120 dirhams par personne (11,36 €), c’est le tarif pour les non-résidents étrangers, nous attendons le départ de la visite guidée qui ne saurait tarder. Elle était prévue à midi, elle commencera avec une dizaine de minutes de retard. Il y a quatre guides, un francophone, un anglophone, un hispanophone et un germanophone. Nous serons huit à suivre la visite en allemand.

La mosquée Hassan II est la troisième plus grande mosquée au monde après celles de la Mecque et de Médine en Arabie Saoudite. Son minaret de 210 m de hauteur est le plus haut du monde et en fait le monument religieux le plus haut. 2500 ouvriers et 10 000 artisans y ont travaillé pendant six ans et la mosquée a été inaugurée en 1993 pour le 60^e anniversaire de Hassan II. La salle de prière de 20 000 m² peut recevoir jusqu’à 25 000 fidèles, si l’on rajoute les 50 à 60 000 que l’esplanade peut recevoir ce sont jusqu’à 80 000 fidèles qui viennent prier régulièrement pendant le ramadan. En temps ordinaire l’affluence est bien moindre. Une des particularités de cette mosquée est son toit coulissant sur une centaine de mètres pour assurer l’aération lorsque la salle de prière est comble.

Pas de doute, cette mosquée est un chef-d’œuvre architectural. Mais étrangement, je n’arrive pas à m’enthousiasmer en la visitant. Peut-être manque-t-elle de maturité avec ses 25 ans d’âge seulement. Toujours est-il que je n’y retrouve pas l’atmosphère de ces mosquées chargées d’histoire que nous avons pu visiter en Turquie (je pense à la mosquée bleue d’Istanbul), en Iran (les mosquées de la place royale à Ispahan par exemple) ou bien en Syrie, la mosquée des Omeyyades à Damas qui est certainement celle qui m’a le plus impressionné.

Wir zögerten nach Casablanca zu kommen, das wirtschaftliche Zentrum des Landes, mit offiziell 3,5 Millionen Menschen die größte Stadt des Maghreb, eine kosmopolitische Stadt, die ich, weil ich sie in den letzten 30 Jahren beruflich sehr oft besucht habe, gut kenne.

Aber zwei Dinge ziehen uns dazu.

Zuerst die Freunde. Sehr gutenmarokkanische Freunde, die wir seit 15 Jahren kennen und mit denen wir einen tollen Abend bei einem fabelhaften Essen verbringen werden. 
Nochmals vielen Dank, Mehdi, Zineb, Yasmina und Khalid ... und vor allem küssen Sie Ihre entzückenden Mädchen. Und wenn Sie Rat für den Kauf des Camper benötigen, den Sie ihnen versprochen haben, zögern Sie nicht, uns zu fragen 😊.

Und auch dank dir Philippe, für den Tee und für die 8 Jahre professionelle Zusammenarbeit. 

Und dann ist da noch die Moschee Hassan II, die ich in den 1990ern gesehen habe, wie sie gebaut wurde. Ich hatte aber noch nicht die Gelegenheit, sie zu besuchen.
Nach einem gescheiterten Versuch vor 3 Jahren, wird es heute nachgeholt.
Nach dem Kauf unserer Tickets für120 Dirhams pro Person (11,36 €), das ist dies Tarif für ausländische Nicht-Einwohner, warten wir auf den Beginn der Führung. Sie ist um 12:00 geplant, sie wird mit zehn Minuten Verspätung beginnen.  
Es gibt vier Führer, einen Franzosen, einen Engländer, einen Spanier und einen Deutschen. Wir werden acht sein, um den Besuch auf Deutsch zu verfolgen. 
Die Hassan-II-Moschee ist die drittgrößte Moschee der Welt nach denen von Mekka und Medina in Saudi-Arabien. Ihr 210 m hohes Minarett ist das höchste der Welt und macht es zum höchsten religiösen Denkmal. 
2.500 Arbeiter und 10.000 Handwerker arbeiteten dort sechs Jahre lang. Die Moschee wurde 1993 zum 60. Jahrestag von Hassan II eingeweiht. 
Die Gebetshalle von 20.000 m² bietet Platz für bis zu 25.000 Gläubige. Wenn wir die 50 bis 60.000 Personen hinzufügen, die die Esplanade aufnehmen kann, sind es bis zu 80.000 Gläubige, die während des Ramadan regelmäßig beten. In gewöhnlichen Zeiten sind es viel weniger.  
Eine der Besonderheiten dieser Moschee ist ihr Schiebedach, um die Belüftung zu gewährleisten, wenn der Gebetsraum voll ist.
Kein Zweifel, diese Moschee ist ein architektonisches Meisterwerk. Aber seltsamerweise kann ich mich nicht dafür begeistern. Vielleicht fehlt ihr, mit nur 25 Jahren, die notwendige Reife. 
Dennoch finde ich hier nicht die Atmosphäre, wie bei diesen anderen Moscheen voller Geschichte, die wir in der Türkei besuchen könnten (ich denke an die blaue Moschee von Istanbul), im Iran (die Moscheen des königlichen Platzes in Isfahan zum Beispiel) oder in Syrien, die Umayyaden Moschee in Damaskus, die mich am meisten beeindruckt hat.
