2018-10-18. The lead mines and the wonderfull Moulouya gorges.

The road that leads after 15 km to Mibladen at the northeast of Midelt is not really interesting. On the contrary the first kilometers take us through an area where the plastic bags dominate the landscape. We're guessing a garbage dump in the area.

Mibladen is a small ghost town. Only a few houses still seem inhabited. The lead mines that were still exploited until a few years ago are not really visible from the road. It is indeed necessary to move away a good fifty meters of the road to discover the remains of the exploitation in open sky some 20 meters below. A series of deep excavations lining the cliff at the foot of the quarry. We find the road that goes down and we stop at these excavations.

At the end of one of them we can see the light of an electric lamp. This is a man of a certain age who extracts all kinds of minerals from the quarry with his little hammer. He offers us some but does not insist.
There is in one of these caves a geocache that we will take some time to find. Then we will explore some of these excavations that advance far enough into the depths of the mine.

The weather becomes more and more unpleasant and it even starts falling a few drops of rain. It is only 15 ° C and it is under a shower that we take the road again.
The landscape changes completely as the road begins to descend into the gorges of a tributary of the Moulouya river. Gorges that become narrower and more and more wild as we get closer to those of the Moulouya. The road becomes quite bad, especially at the level of the many fords that we have to pass.

The Moulouya is one of the longest rivers in Morocco, it has its source in the Middle Atlas in the vicinity of Aghbala and flows into the Mediterranean in the vicinity of Saidia near Oujda after crossing the Rekkam plateau. We discover it here in fantastic gorges and we will cross it by a bridge that deserves that we take the time to stop there to make some impressive pictures of Gandalf venturing there.

We continue the track that goes up the mountain for a few kilometers before turning back to Midelt.

18 octobre 2018. Les anciennes mines de plomb et les pittoresques gorges de la Moulouya.

La route qui mène en 15 km à Mibladen au nord-est de Midelt n’offre aucun intérêt, bien au contraire les premiers kilomètres nous font traverser une zone où ce sont les sacs en plastique qui dominent le paysage. Nous devinons une décharge publique dans les environs.

Mibladen est une petite ville fantôme. Seulement quelques maisons semblent encore habitées. Les mines de plombs qui furent encore exploitées jusqu’il y a quelques années ne sont pas vraiment visibles de la route. Il faut en effet s’éloigner d’une bonne cinquantaine de mètres de celle-ci pour découvrir en contrebas les restes de l’exploitation à ciel ouvert. Toute une série de profondes excavations qui s’alignent dans la falaise au pied de la carrière. Nous trouvons le chemin carrossable qui y descend et allons nous arrêter au niveau de ces excavations.

Nous devinons au fond d’une d’entre elles la lumière d’une lampe électrique. Il s’agit d’un homme d’un certain âge qui avec son petit marteau arrache toutes sortes de minéraux à la carrière. Il nous en propose mais n’insiste pas.

Il y a dans une de ces grottes une géocache que nous allons mettre un certain temps à dénicher. Ensuite nous allons explorer quelques-unes de ces excavations qui s’avancent assez loin dans les profondeurs de la mine.

Le temps devient de plus en plus désagréable et il va même se mettre à tomber quelques gouttes de pluie. Il ne fait que 15 °C et c’est sous une averse que nous allons reprendre la route.

Le paysage change complètement lorsque la route commence à descendre dans les gorges d’un affluent de la Moulouya. Des gorges qui deviennent de plus en plus étroites et de plus en plus sauvages au fur et à mesure que nous nous rapprochons de celles de la Moulouya. La route devient assez mauvaise, surtout au niveau des nombreux gués qu’il nous faut passer.

La Moulouya est un des fleuves les plus longs du Maroc, elle prend sa source dans le moyen Atlas dans les environs d’Aghbala et va se jeter dans la Méditerranée dans les environs de Saïdia près d’Oujda après avoir traversé le plateau du Rekkam. Nous la découvrons ici dans de fantastiques gorges et nous allons la traverser par un pont qui mérite que l’on prenne le temps de s’y arrêter pour faire quelques impressionnantes photos de Gandalf s’y aventurant.

Nous allons aussi nous arrêter au niveau des anciennes installations de la mine de plomb de Aouli. 

Nous allons continuer la piste qui monte dans la montagne encore sur quelques kilomètres avant de faire demi-tour et revenir sur nos pas jusqu’à Midelt.

Im Gegenteil: die ersten Kilometer führen uns durch ein Gebiet, in dem die Plastiktüten die Landschaft prägen. Wir vermuten eine Müllkippe ganz in der Nähe.Mibladen ist eine kleine Geisterstadt. Nur wenige Häuser scheinen noch bewohnt zu sein. Die bis vor wenigen Jahren noch genutzten Bleiminen sind von der Straße aus nicht wirklich sichtbar. Man muss sich tatsächlich gut fünfzig Metern davon entfernen, um das Überbleibsel von den alten Bleiminen unter freiem Himmel zu entdecken. Eine Reihe von tiefen Ausgrabungen entlang der Klippe am Fuße des Steinbruchs. Wir finden die Straße, die hinunterführt, und halten bei diesen Ausgrabungen an.In einer von ihnen können wir das Licht einer elektrischen Lampe erraten. Ein Mann in gewissem Alter reisst mit seinem kleinen Hammer verschiedene Mineralien aus der Wand aus. Er bietet uns welche an.
